Could not pick up the game on TV down in Richmond, Va. However, keeping up with the game via the Globe NFL feeds revealed that the Patriots offense was pretty efficient. Defense was good in the first half. Running game was adequate despite not having Maroney.
From what I could tell, red zone offense is better than last year. Return game, thanks to Brandon Tate, vastly improved. And, what about Wes Welker? 2 TD catches and the guy was not supposed to be ready until mid-season. Nice INT by Gary Guyton for a TD. Good contributions from rookie tight ends.
Defense gave up large yardage in the 3rd period as Palmer got into a groove. But, a sustained drive in the 4th period chewed up 1/2 of the clock and took way the Bengals' momentum.
Nice to see the Colts get beat despite Manning's over 400 yards in the air.
I was able to watch the whole game. The D suprised me early, but allowing Palmer to throw for over 300 yds. in the 3rd quarter is concerning. Now, what about Moss's speech at the podium. I hope he does not become a distraction during the season. I'm really suprised that Hoodie let him get away with that. I think they should give him a new contract though. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteMoss took a pay cut to come to New England. He has given the Patriots a new dimension in its passing game. I'd say give him a new contract and let him finish up in New England though I do not particularly like his public posturing. Just look how Brady handled himself.
ReplyDeleteI've been listening to EEI all morning. Kraft made a surprise appearance and talked about Moss' contract (or lack of). Every time anyone mentions Moss, they play a baby crying in the background. Hope he doesn't turn into a distraction.
ReplyDeleteMoss needs to focus on playing well this year. Though he still very talented, he is getting older. Patriots knew the risks when they traded for him.
