Patriots release Ohrnberger, Wright
DL Wright's past two seasons of concussions obviously contributed to his release.

Rematch of 2008 Super Bowl
I would have prefered playing SF instead of Eli and the Giants. The Mannings, both Peyton and Eli, have snatched key victories away from the Patriots in recent years.
The no-huddle offense could neutralize the Giant pass rush a bit. Having Gronk healthy will be key. BB will need a defensive game plan to minimize long downfield receptions.

Wow!
I will the first to admit that I had doubts of the Patriots making the Super Bowl this year.
I am drained from that nailbiter. When Lee Evans appeared to have caught that TD, I thought "here we go again" losing in the last minute. But, Sterling Moore came up "sterling" big! I could believe that missed FG, too.
So, the Patriots won despite Brady being off target and not throwing a TD. Classy guy that he is, acknowledged that he "sucked" and the defense won the game for them. The pass rush was good at times, particularly up the middle.
Now, let's see who they face in Indianapolis.

Patriots at the bye week
5-1 is pretty good considering how the defense has been a work in progress. However, it seems to be getting better with Ron Brace and Brandon Deadrick returning from the PUP list to provide needed depth on the defensive line. Getting Mayo back will help, too.
The offense continues to be explosive and it is nice to see that they now have Ridley to add to the BenJarivs and Woodhead. Vereen might be displaced by Faulk's return; but, he may play a larger role in the years to come after Faulk retires. BTW, I see Faulk returning as a coach one day.
The one thing that concerns me about the offense is that it tends to leave the running game prematurely after a few good runs by the BenJarvis. Seems to me that if the OL and RBs are firing off the line, stay with it rather than jumping right back into shotgun formations.
